Snowdonia Mountains

The Davis Vantage Pro2 automatic weather station was set up in April 2011 and records temperature, humidity, rainfall, barometric pressure, wind speed and direction. In compliance with Met Office standard, wind is measured at 10 m above ground level and temperature and humidity at 1.25 m AGL. The software currently used is Cumulus v1.9.2 which, via IP data logger, updates values as often as every 2 minutes, as shown on the banner below. Since 15th July 2011 sunshine duration is also recorded as part of a field test of an innovative Blake-Larsen sun recorder.
Trigonos weather station regularly submits data to the Met Office and is also registered with ProData Weather Systems, Davis WeatherLink and WeatherUnderground, a global on-line network of independent weather stations were data are refreshed frequently.
Our aim is to make information about current and expected weather conditions in Dyffryn Nantlle accessible to visitors to Trigonos and the valley, as well as to interested people around the globe.
Furthermore, we hope to build up a long-term record of weather data in order to play our part in monitoring locally the changes that are so obviously taking place in the climate globally.
Finally, it is hoped we are able to shatter the myth that it always rains in Northwest Wales - indeed,
our spring season seems to become more glorious year after year!
